Seeking to Please

When our children were young, they loved to please us. It seemed that was what they lived for – to bring us pleasure and gain our approval. Did you know, as born-again children of God, we are to live to please him? How often are we seeking to please someone, other than God, or ourselves? Far too often, I’m afraid.
Look at Galatians 1:10 KJV, “For do I now persuade men or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Do you consider yourself a servant of Christ? If so, here are a few good questions to ask yourself often:
Who am I seeking to please?
Am I serving someone other than the Lord?
Am I serving myself?
You see, the Bible says, you can’t serve two masters. If you’re not seeking to please God, why not? Is there something holding you back or someone who has gotten in your way? Is there some sin you are holding on to that you need to confess and repent of?
There is nothing better than to have God’s approval in your life. Peace and joy follow those who desire to please Him. You will not gain peace or joy trying to please men or yourself. It’s important for you to be honest about where your heart is. Are you seeking to please Him?
