A Child is Born

A few days ago, my first grandchild was born into this world.  The joy that floods my soul is hard to describe in words, so let’s just say, I’m ecstatic! As I recall speaking on the phone with my son and daughter-in-law the night before she brought forth her firstborn son, John 16:21 KJV comes to mind, ” A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.”  What truth!

Life, truly, is a gift given from God that is not to be compared to any other gift of any other kind.  Remember this during this Christmas season.  Cherish the ones you love and endeavor to love those God has given you to minister to because life is a vapor, here on earth, and we aren’t promised a set amount of time. Celebrate the gift of life God has given you.  Seek to lead others to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord if you have eternal life flowing in you because the time is short here on earth.

In three days, we will be celebrating the greatest gift ever given to mankind, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible declares in Isaiah 9:7, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”  Personally, I have experienced that He is Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace in my life.  How about you?

God the Father, in his love for you and me, sent his only begotten Son to be born of a humble, handmaid, who had known no man at that point in time, to bring forth the Saviour of the world. Mary trusted in God and knew she was blessed and chosen by the Lord to accomplish His will.

Read with me these verses of Scripture in Luke 1:39-55 KJV describing the dialogue between Mary and her cousin Elisabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist:, ” And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: For, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him From generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, And exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, In remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, To Abraham, and to his seed for ever.”

How about you? Does your soul magnify the Lord? Does your spirit rejoice in God?  Is He your Saviour?  You see, He has regarded your low estate and has done great things for you when He sent His only begotten Son to be born into this world to die in your place for your sins.  Have you repented of your sins and believed in your heart that Jesus Christ is your only hope of salvation?  Have you received into your heart the Greatest Gift ever given?
