Put Off and Put On

Getting dressed in the morning requires some preparation and forethought, especially on days filled with various duties throughout the day. We get up in the morning and put off our pajamas from our bodies and put on fresh, clean clothes. If we plan to do a dirty or messy job, we choose appropriate clothing, so that we can put off the clothes we are wearing and put on the other clothes more suitable for the job at hand.
Did you know we must do the same with our thoughts throughout the day?
Just as we need to change our clothes, we need to change our thoughts. We wouldn’t put on old, dirty, trashy clothing for an important appointment or meeting, would we? No, we would put on good clothes; so, in like manner, we should put off our old, dirty, thoughts along with any thoughts that are not pleasing to God and put on new, clean, wholesome thoughts.
Here are a few examples given to us in the Authorized King James Bible on thoughts we should put off and thoughts we should put:
PUT OFF:
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Ephesians 4:22 KJV
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8 KJV
PUT ON:
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24 KJV
As the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering: Colossians 3:12 KJV
There are many other verses in the Holy Bible instructing us to put off and put on certain thoughts. Have you considered doing an exhaustive study to find out what God expects you to put on and put off?
I encourage you to find out all that God has to say concerning this matter.
