Let’s Go Fishing

As a young girl, my father took me fishing very early in the morning by the bayside at the old Brightman Street Bridge. Those were precious moments spent alone with my father in the wee hours of the morning. Oh, the excitement my father would get each and every time he caught a fish! It was such a happy time to return to Memere’s house with a five-pound bucket full of fish that she would cook with enthusiasm!
How many of you enjoy fishing? Do you know God encourages all of his children to go fishing? His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is our Master fisherman. He even tells us what to fish for and where to find them in Matthew 4:19-20 KJV. “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”.
Oh, the blessing of spending time all alone with our heavenly Father in prayer in the early morning. It’s during that time, He impresses on my heart to go fishing for men – lost souls. Oh, the joy it brings our heavenly Father each time a soul is saved and set free from the Devil’s grasp. What rejoicing in heaven over even one sinner that repents! Jesus Christ said in Luke 15:7 ” I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. “
So, what do you say? I say, let’s go fishing!
