Showers of Blessings
We usually get a lot of rain in the month of April here in the Northeast. Most of us don’t think of a rainy day as a good day; yet, rain is necessary for things to grow. Have you ever heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers?” It’s true; flowers won’t grow without water or rain. As God’s children, we, too, need to have rainy days in order to grow in Christ.
Dark, gloomy, days will surely come at differing times in our lives. How will we handle these times of testing and trying? Will we be drawn closer to the Lord Jesus Christ or will we hide from Him? It helps us to predetermine in our heart that we will trust Him and bring Him honor and glory – come what may, as it’s not a matter of if we‘ll face trials, but a matter of when we will face them.
When a seed is planted in the ground, it dies and is buried in order for life to spring forth from it. Jesus Christ said in John 12:24 KJV, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
Will we submit to God’s will in our lives and allow our fleshly desires, our own ideas, and our own plans to fall into the ground and die, so that the Holy Spirit brings forth much fruit through us? We get to choose.
To those wise among us, the Bible says, “And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26 KJV.
