Pathway to Blessing Part 1
Is it fair to say that everyone is looking for happiness? I mean, we may desire different things in life, but at the end of the day, most of our decisions boil down to what we think will make us happy, right? Is this desire for happiness wrong? Not necessarily.
God knew all about our desire for happiness before we even knew we wanted it. The Word of God (KJV) uses the word blessed more often than it does the word happy, but in either case, the pathway to blessing can be found all throughout the Bible.
Let’s take a look at Psalm 1:1 KJV for instance:
“Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
The pathway to blessing laid out here is to heed God’s warning in regard to whose example you follow:
1. Blessed (happy) is the one who doesn’t take the counsel or advice of an unsaved or ungodly person.
2. Blessed (happy) is the one who doesn’t follow the philosophies of the world or seek guidance for life’s problems or seek guidance in making decisions from the unsaved and unbelieving.
3. Blessed (happy) is the one who doesn’t hang around with ungodly people or make friends with those who are rebellious and/or willfully sinning against God.
What is the byproduct of following God’s pathway laid out for you here in Psalm 1:1? It will lead you to a life of blessing (happiness). Those of us who are walking down this pathway know it is true. If you’re on a different pathway, perhaps a thorny or crooked one, it’s not too late to get off. Turn to Jesus Christ today and ask Him to direct your path. He will answer; if you pray in sincerity and He will put you on the pathway to blessing. Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
