Getting Unstuck
Let’s face it. Life can be hard. There are times we feel stuck. Perhaps, it’s feeling stuck in a situation beyond our control, such as, sickness, an unreasonable boss, or a bad relationship. Each one of us feels stuck from time to time. The good news is we don’t have to stay stuck and God doesn’t want us to stay stuck, either. In order to get unstuck, we must change our mindset.
How do we do that? Three simple steps are outlined in DRY:
1. D: Decide you want to get unstuck. This sounds simple, but until we decide we don’t want to stay stuck, no change will ever happen.
2. R: Resist the temptation to stay stuck. It can get quite cozy in our ruts because our brains resist change and like the same, familiar thoughts, so we must resist old thought patterns and accept that getting unstuck will feel uncomfortable, at first.
3. Y: Yoke up with Christ. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Jesus Christ is able to pull us out of our rut but we must take upon his yoke. We must enter into His way of thinking. The Bible says, “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16 KJV
