FAILING OR FEELING
Are you afraid to fail? Are you afraid to feel? Perhaps you are afraid of both. How many times in our lives do we avoid doing something that we know God wants us to do because we are afraid to fail? How many times in our lives do we avoid reaching out to someone because we are afraid to feel? Failing is no fun, you say, and neither is feeling.
Rejected, hurt, sad, betrayed, misunderstood….etc.
Rather than focusing on who Christ is, we often focus on who we are, or who we think we are, and that is a sure way to fail. Keeping our eyes on ourselves, is a sure way to feel incapable, too.
Renew your mind and turn your eyes upon Jesus!
When the Lord presses upon our hearts, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to hand a stranger a gospel tract, we are tempted with inward thoughts. “Will this person reject me? What will this person think of me? How will this person react?” The familiar verse of Scripture may come into our mind that reminds us Jesus Christ said to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
“Who? Me, Lord? Surely He wasn’t talking to me, right?”
Yes, He is talking to you, if you are a born-again child of God, and he is talking to me. Which thought will you listen to? Who will you submit to?
You see, Christ has equipped each one of us, by God’s grace, to be lights in this dark and dying world. We have hope that the lost world needs. Are we hiding it under a bushel because we are afraid to fail and/or feel? Are we fully engaged in the battle in our minds? Are we looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith?
Let us take courage, my friends, and bring every thought captive into the obedience of Christ that we may serve him and bring others into the fold! We must not let our feelings or our fear of failing keep us from carrying out the Great Commission. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us and gave himself for us.
